Zee Ann Poerio is the k-8 Computer/Technology (STREAM) Teacher at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic School in Upper St. Clair, PA. She loves learning about new technology and sharing what she has learned with others. She has a passion for connecting ancient studies with modern technology. She also teaches an exploratory Latin and Classics course for grades 7 & 8.She has presented at local, regional, state, and national technology conferences, including Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference (TRETC) and Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference (PETE&C) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). She has presented across the country at the American Classical League Summer Institute promoting the benefits of Latin at the Elementary level. She has also presented at Coins4Kids Programs at local, state, and national Numismatic Conferences. In 2020, she was honored by the Carnegie Science Center as the Middle Level Educator. She was named 2014 PAECT Teacher of the Year and a Keystone STAR Technology Innovator. In 2017 she was honored by the National Catholic Education Association with a Lead Learn Proclaim Award for Teaching Excellence and by the American Classical League with a Merita Award, the highest award given to a member of the organization. In 2021, she was excited to be part of the Community Leaders Forum for COSA (Community for Open Source Arts.)  She has been honored with grants for her innovative use of technology from Best Buy, McDonald’s (MAC Grant-Make Activities Count), Wal-Mart (Local Teacher of the Year) and the National Science Foundation (Scholarship for Educational Robotics Graduate Course at Carnegie Mellon University.) She is a Padcaster Distinguished Educator, Common Sense Media Ambassador, and serves as teacher ambassador for many other ED TECH companies including Applied Digital Skills, Quizlet, Gimkit, GooseChaseEdu, and StickTogether.
